Ultrasonic Testing
Ultrasonic testing is a non-destructive technique that is used to find surface and internal flaws in solid materials. A piezoelectric transducer is used to initiate an ultrasonic pulse at the surface of a material. The same transducer can sense the reflection of that ultrasonic pulse off of defects and the back plane of the object. Accurate timing of these reflections can locate the position and approximate size of a defect in a material, once a calibration is done on a standard material using a known defect configuration such as a flat-bottom hole.
Capabilities
- GE or Olympus portable UT flaw detection systems (single shot). Level I and II qualified personnel on-site to do inspection
- Can provide phase array inspection if needed (requires some lead time).
- Wide-area plate inspection with continuous water couplant is available.
