What it's all about...
Our metallurgical testing includes microscopic and macroscopic examination
of metals to determine metallurgical structure, verify heat treat
effectiveness, measure decarburization and conduct metallurgical
investigations.
Capabilities
- State of the art Nikon inverted metallurgical microscope with
built in Polaroid camera for high resolution black and white photomicrography.
A color video camera, monitor and printer are attached for color
photomicrography. Magnifications from 50X to 500X are possible.
Photomicrography is in accordance with ASTM E883.
- Color video macro camera with stand and color monitor and printer
for taking macro photographs of samples and parts.
- Three wet abrasive saws for sectioning samples.
- Buehler mounting press, belt grinder, grinding wheels and polishing
wheels for preparing samples for viewing on the microscope. Sample
preparation is in accordance with ASTM E3.
- H720 Magnaflux unit for wet magnetic particle inspection. Several
magnetic yokes are available for dry magnetic particle inspection.
Magnetic particle inspection is for metallurgical analysis only
- we are not equipped to handle large production runs.
