TC Industries Mill Products Division provides shot blasting for bar and plate products.
Shot Blasting is a surface treatment process wherein steel or carbide abrasive is accelerated at high velocity towards a bar, casting or plate product. The incident shot removes surface oxides, residual oils, paint and other surface coatings from the target product. Through this process, it is possible to obtain excellent cleaning and surface preparation for secondary finishing operations.
Shot blasting is commonly used for:
- The cleaning of iron, steel, non-cast parts, forgings, etc.
- Mechanical cleaning of sheets, rods, coils, wire, etc.
- Shot peening to alter mechanical properties (increasing resistance to fatigue for springs, gears, etc.)
- Preparing surfaces to be painted, coated, etc.
We have the capability to provide mechanical descaling. Our shot blaster can handle bars in thickness or diameter of 6 1/2" and a width of up to 18". The length restriction on this piece of equipment is 27 feet. Please contact a sales representative to inquire about shot blasting longer length pieces.
